Greetings!
My name is Yuniya Khan, Founder and Principal Consultant at Uplift Global Consulting. I am originally from Guyana (South America), and have lived and worked in El Salvador, Brazil, and South Africa. With more than 20 years in international development and social enterprise spaces, my work has focused a lot on youth development, education programs, entrepreneurship initiatives, and talent acquisition for nonprofit organizations.
A storyteller at heart, I founded The Emerge Project, a multimedia storytelling initiative that aims to elevate the voice and impact of “ordinary” Black grassroots entrepreneurs and community leaders in South Africa and Brazil. I have also led Africa No Filter’s Storify Africa Fellowship, a narrative change program linking African journalists and content creators with international development organizations and philanthropies who want to tell better stories about Africa.

Over the years, I have built strong networks of Black entrepreneurs, changemakers, and other leaders and communities, specifically in South Africa, Kenya, and Brazil. One of the things I’ve become passionate about is creating and strengthening the links between the African continent and its Diaspora. With all the talent, skill and ingenuity in our communities, imagine how we can change the world if we put our heads, hearts and resources together!
UGC Purpose
At Uplift Global Consulting, we are passionate about two things:
* Shifting global narratives about Africa and the African Diaspora, and
* Strengthening the ties between Africa and its Diaspora, particularly communities of African descent in the Global South.
We do this through designing and managing innovative programs that center African agency and creativity; crafting and curating human-centered stories that inspire and illuminate; and facilitating cross-cultural partnerships and collaboration that generate opportunities for social and economic growth.
